The two Canon models have an eye level viewfinder which will allow you to come up with perfect frames even if there is a scorching sun overhead. There is an HDMI out which allows you to plug an external screen so you can review any frame or video in real time. There is a hot shoe feature that allows you to use off-camera flashes. The internal flash works very well to fill up the frame with different lighting conditions. You can also use the shutter manually to have very short or extremely long exposures.
Canon T5 and T5i fall short in certain aspects. There is no focus peaking feature, no integrated NFC, the panorama feature actually lines up multiple frames instead of one in-camera panoramic photo, there is no image stabilization feature, no Wi-Fi or GPS, no dual card slot or headphone jack and there is no support for slow motion videos. Canon T5 and T5i have a very specific target audience and you need to figure out which one would be a better choice for your needs.
Difference between Canon T5 and T5i
1. Canon T5 has a tilt swivel screen which the T5i doesn’t have. The former has a touch screen while the latter doesn’t. T5 has a sensor for phase detection. The T5i doesn’t have any such feature. There are nine AF points in T5 against one in T5i.
2. There is an external microphone jack in the Canon T5. The resolution of the screen is 346K pixels as against 154K pixels in the T5i. T5 has 4.8 fps for jpeg and raw shooting including burst mode whereas the T5i offers 3.0 fps. The T5 offers ISO 25600 while the T5i offers ISO 12800.
3. Canon T5i has a few advantages over T5. It is substantially cheaper, by as much as $200 and more with some retailers. The lenses and accessories are also a tad cheaper. The startup time of the T5i is understandably shorter than the T5. The T5i is slightly sleeker and niftier with its design.
