Difference Between Fitbit Charge and Fitbit Flex

FitBit Flex and FitBit Charge, both are bestsellers. FitBit Flex is an older device. There are newer variants launched after Flex, like the FitBit One. Most of the FitBit devices have several common features. A few are upgrades of existing models, like the FitBit Charge HR, while some are just newer devices. FitBit Charge and FitBit Flex have many similarities and there are differences as well. Let us explore them.

Difference Between FitBit Charge and FitBit Flex

Let us briefly state the similarities first. FitBit Charge and FitBit Flex both can track distance, steps and calories, they can track sleep and have auto sleep detection, there’s silent wake alarm, active minutes and a record of stationary time & hourly activity.

Since FitBit Charge is a more recent device, it is expected to have some more features that the FitBit Flex doesn’t possess. Delivering on those expectations, FitBit Charge comes with a clock, a tracker keeping a count of the number of floors climbed, an auto exercise recognition feature and caller id.
FitBit Flex has a lighter and slimmer band, there is a standard clasp made of rubberized material.

There are ten color variants to choose from including slate, black, teal, lime, tangerine, pink, violet, red, navy and blue. FitBit Charge has a band that is slightly wider and the screen is larger. The buckle design is more advanced. The rubberized material still finds its place but has a crisscross look and texture. There are four color variants including slate, black, burgundy and blue.

FitBit Charge has an LCD screen with actual numbers showing the measurement in every category, be it steps, time, distance or calories, active minutes or floors climbed, caller id or alarm. FitBit Flex has a screen featuring LED dots that display daily achievement progress. There is no exact measurement notifying you of the specific progress made. FitBit Flex is good for beginners who don’t really want a lot of information but just indicators of how one is faring. FitBit Charge is for a tad advanced fitness enthusiasts who would want to delve into the details. After all, having the exact measurements is always better than having a vague idea of your fitness routines and the subsequent impact.

FitBit Flex has two bands measuring 5.5” to 6.9” inches and the larger set measures 6.3” to 8.2”. Both sets of bands are 0.6 inches wide. FitBit Charge has three ranges or sizes, one measuring 5.5” to 6.7”, the larger one measuring 6.3” to 7.9” and the extra large one measuring 7.8” to 9.1”.
