Some of them have been runaway hits while some have sold out overnight. FitBit Charge and FitBit Charge HR are two bestselling fitness trackers right now. The two are essentially variants so there are more similarities than differences. However, one must note the difference between FitBit Charge and FitBit Charge HR.

Difference Between FitBit Charge and FitBit Charge HR

FitBit Charge is a fitness tracker that aims at keeping a count of daily activity and it can also track sleep. FitBit Charge HR is the same fitness tracker with some aesthetic or structural differences but several of the features already available in FitBit Charge. The HR is the heart rate monitoring featuring. FitBit Charge HR can continuously monitor the heart rate and is thus more useful. FitBit Charge doesn’t measure the heart rate. It tracks movement of arms and draws the inferences.

FitBit Charge and FitBit Charge HR have similar designs and displays. Both are durable and flexible, made of elastomer material. However, FitBit Charge has a clasp while FitBit Charge HR has a buckle on the surgical-grade stainless steel fasteners.

FitBit Charge has a 21mm wide band. FitBit Charge HR has a 34mm wide band. FitBit Charge is available in blue, black, slate and burgundy. Fitbit Charge HR is available in plum, black, blue, teal and tangerine. The form factor in both the devices is the same but FitBit Charge HR features optical heart rate tracking which is not available in FitBit Charge. That also makes the HR variant a tad bulkier.

If you consider utility then FitBit Charge HR is obviously more helpful. By tracking the heart rate, you would get a more accurate analysis of your movements. Also, if you are playing a sport that doesn’t really have the arm movements akin to walking or jogging, then not measuring the heart rate will be futile as the fitness tracker will feed you wrong data. FitBit Charge HR is hence the more desirable device if you are going to the gym, if you are cycling, playing any sport that is not akin to running or walking.
